Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026. This policy explains what prep.lab collects, why, who processes it, and how long it is kept.
In short: we collect what you give us to prepare your answers, we use it only to run the service, your sessions are deleted after 90 days, and none of it is used to train AI models.
1. Who we are
prep.lab (theprep.live) is operated by an early-stage company based in India. For any privacy question, write to admin@theprep.live.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and sign-in information, handled by our authentication provider.
- Session content: the resume, job description and facts you provide; the questions you ask (typed, pasted as screenshots, or spoken); the answers generated; and anything you add such as highlights, notes or diagrams.
- Audio: when you use voice input or share a call tab, the audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider to be transcribed. We keep the resulting text in your session, not the audio.
- Usage and diagnostics: technical data such as response times, error and connection reports, browser type and IP address, used to keep the service working and secure.
- Reports you send us: anything you include when you report an issue or contact us.
3. How we use it
- To generate, display and save your answers, and to sync them to the desktop app you connect.
- To run, secure, troubleshoot and improve the service.
- To respond to your messages and issue reports.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers, each only for the purpose listed:
- Authentication: Clerk, to manage sign-in and accounts.
- AI answers: OpenAI, through its API, to generate answers from your session content.
- Speech to text: Deepgram, to transcribe shared call audio; and your browser's built-in speech recognition when you use the microphone.
- Hosting: our cloud infrastructure provider, where the service and its database run.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments.
5. How long we keep it
- Sessions are deleted automatically 90 days after they were last used.
- Account details are kept while your account is active, and deleted on request.
- Diagnostic data and server logs are kept only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.
6. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit, every session requires sign-in, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach occurs.
7. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance. Write to admin@theprep.live and we will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies needed for sign-in, and your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as theme and display settings. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Children
prep.lab is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
We will update this policy as the product changes, and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we will notify you in the app or by email.
